"First, when others are looking to us for help, we can notice the manner in which they are asking. I've noticed that those who are in real need are very different than those who are trying to take advantage of us. Those who are trying to take advantage of us have a hard time completely masking their true feelings and motives. You may notice an unnaturally saccharine niceness and flattery, or an underlying bossiness, impatience and aggression. Those who are truly in need are often very sincere in their gratitude afterwards, but those who are taking advantage often have a hard time hiding their gloating, and they often boast about it to others." - DH

Real need vs. taking advantage
