The skies roared

In the Arizona Desert. Whoa! It was a fantastic, non-stop show of sound and lights.

No need to water the plants anytime soon.

Running God's Way

I stopped by C-Span this morning and saw Vicki Hartzler speak to a group of college students about running a successful campaign.

I put into perspective my observations of various local school board elections in the last few years. I just love this kind of forum. The expert shares knowledge that is practical and really makes a difference.

My pretties

I relate a lot to plants. I am very patient with them. I've learned to set them in an appropriate environment (this was my weakest step) and I water them as needed. I relish in seeing a plant fight to survive and then grow and thrive.

The delicate one who is beginning to fill in.

This one blossoms often.

The happy one.

Yes, I believe plants feel. :-)

These are my pretties in my backyard.

Waterfalls at dusk

Sublime!

Julia the spy

That famous chef Julia Child had a secret at the time when the Nazis threatened the world.
Photo from AZCentral.com

The secret came out today when the National Archives released a list of the names found in the previously classified files identifying nearly 24,000 spies who formed the first centralized intelligence effort by the United States.

To my mother

I honor my love for you on this first anniversary of your passing.

Can you see me?

John Sanford, the great Jungian Episcopal theologian, once said: Deliver me from people who want to "do good" - because in their zeal they overlook the impact their good is doing to individuals and the ultimate consequences of their actions.

Remembering my mother

A year ago she was close to leaving us.

The first week of school will always be colored by thoughts of her.

Summer Sunday

The heat isn't quite on at 6 AM in the desert, so I grab my newspaper and morning drink of choice and enjoy the new patio furniture.
Church is next.

I often feel grateful for "the concert" offered to those of us who choose to go to church. The song they are singing here was particularly rich.

Apron is on and a meal is prepared.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that. There's something for the carnivore, the vegetarian and the pasta lover in all.

And so a Sunday passes.

Lighting creates ambiance

The lighting was a very well thought out part of the backyard project. The genius mastermind of the project went to great lengths to find just the right gadgets.
One of two posts.

Two of two posts.

Light and air movement.

One more area lighting fixture.

It has been tested and viewed from all angles. The mastermind is pleased.
No, not me. :-)
