The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree.  That's me.  As seen by Snowden my daughter, who places me in the middle nurturing all members of the family, dogs included.

School is on

Endless conversations with friends to determine everyone's teacher...

Getting the backpack ready...

Memories are made of this.

The caramel frappe and South Mountain

This is a daily trip to a movie making class for Snowden.

The McDonald's frappe is the best coffee beverage ever...  I mean EVER.

The road to the school.

At South Mountain.

Battleship

When I was a young girl living in Mozambique, I played battleship the paper way.

Snowden found one and invited me to play.
Smiling quietly, I was back in Africa with my young friends and we played again.

The Empire State Building

I saw a post on a blog once about how some boys had created the Empire State building out of sugar cubes.

I mentioned this to Snowden, our resident builder...

and she engaged Dad in the purchasing of the Styrofoam and other materials.

She created this...

Music Girl

Snowden's school band performed the other day.

The room was neatly layed out, with a PowerPoint going reminding parents of things like practice slips and the need for music stands.

Mrs. W. believes they help with posture. The percussion kids of which Snowden is one, were moving around in the back. They must take turns at all the percussion instruments. These 6th graders were spectacular at this their first concert.

Little Engineers

The van. Snowden's version.

The van. Grasshopper's version.

These are time consuming tasks, made patiently with care and focus.

Music

I am always amazed at people who manage to play an instrument, never mind two or three.

Snowden is a pianist, but she was curious about the violin.
We rented a violin and scheduled 4 lessons.
She sure works hard at everything she does, and tried to do the same with the violin.
It turns out she will hold off on pursuing this endeavor. I, however, reserved the right to photograph her and this pretty cool instrument... One can hope.
