Poppies are a symbol of the revolution that took place in Portugal in 1974. In Mozambique we learned many songs too but if a different kind. I learned about the poppy through this song. I love the word PAPOILA. They are vibrant, regal, noticed, and eventually run their patch of land like this one I found in The Valley as I went on my morning walk.

PS: não me leve a mal mas, permita-me uma correcção: a flor que simboliza o 25 de Abril é o cravo e não a papoila. Acho que a tradução é carnation mas, não tenho a certeza

Obrigado por clarificar qual flor e o simbolo do 25 de Abril. Eu fico sempre confusa. Lembro-me da cancao das papoilas e esqueco os cravos que so vi raramente em Mocambique onde estava no 25 de abril.
