Are you a leftist or a rightist?

"A large body of political scientists and political psychologists now concur that liberals and conservatives disagree about politics in part because they are different people at the level of personality, psychology and even traits like physiology and genetics."

One Community

One Community is a monthly photo project in which the participants photograph their homes, communities with a theme in mind.
The theme varies by month.  The goal is to both showcase similarities and differences in our communities worldwide - and bring us all closer together in understanding through art.
Each month, one of the hosts picks four words for us to interpret through photographs of what we see around us in our daily lives.

The Rules:  Post one or more photos interpreting the words of the month, and add your blog post to the link-up.
Please include a link back to the link-up post on your One Community post, and take a look at some of the other links and comment on them

June;s words are from Sarah - Road or Trip, Float, Refuge, and Sprinkler.

Road Trip - The band goes to Tucson

Float - The teenage people will probably not float.

Refuge - Mine would look like this.

Sprinkler - I always confuse a sprinkler system with a drip system.

Filters

There are many thoughts that do not spill over onto this space.  In middle agehood, as I call it, one begins to think about the legacy issue.  I feel compelled to impart the wisdom I have gathered in the trenches of life. I shall ponder it further and create a way to make that possible.

In the kitchen

Anyone who accompanies me to a book store knows I cannot resist magazines.  I look through a bunch, often settling on one that contains instructions (preferably with pictures) on how to prepare a dish I am dying to try.

Yes, tamales.  I will eventually try this, even as I hear the voices of friends in my head about how labor intense this is.

Drumming

Drumming.  Certainly not what percussion is all about, but I sure like the sound of drumming.
The Corona del Sol percussion group competed at WGI and were excited to know they did well indeed.

The Orange Men eagerly step forward when their name is called.

Looks like he is really excited.

Yep, winners.  Now off to Ohio.

Teenage jobs

The older teenager in the household needs income to cover social expenses.  Chipotle must totally dig all the high schoolers stopping by for some grub.

Anywhoo, babysitting looks to be decent in term of flexibility.  One never knows when this teen has to attend one music performance or other.   More research happening here.   I love it.

College

Guess what I am starting to do now?  OK, she's only a sophomore, but I like to be well prepared.

I am not a last minute kind of person.  Much to learn.  SAT, ACT, PSAT, and AP scores.

The sound of percussion.

It feels indescribable.  It's the kind of sound that resonates deep inside and makes you twitch until you move.

One Community

One Community.

December's words were chosen by me and they are: needle, chair, pillow, speech.

Needles I use in my projects.

The chairs in the school garden

my new pillow pet, a gift from a sweet daughter.

A woman who delivers great speeches.

Silence speaks loud

Oftentimes I think I am a poor writer, always struggling with finding words to describe what I see, what I know, what I want.

I believe that words can never capture the essence of what I know to be true. In fact, once words are used, the truth can lose all meaning. So I speak through images, always carting around a camera, hoping to capture the essence of a moment.

One Community

One community.  Ok, so, basically a bunch of people are Kelli followers and joined her in posting pictures about words chosen by one of teh group.

Blue - The Blue of the early morning in Arizona.

Gratitude - I am grateful to have this beautiful dog who loves me so much.

Fun - High school football games, especially the moment the team approaches the stand to acknowledge the band who is there to cheer them on with their music.

Family -  The girl who marches to her own beat made by her own drum...  It's all quietly done, masked so to speak.

I will soon figure out how to have you all see the other participants.
For now check out Kelli.
