Silence speaks loud

Oftentimes I think I am a poor writer, always struggling with finding words to describe what I see, what I know, what I want.

I believe that words can never capture the essence of what I know to be true. In fact, once words are used, the truth can lose all meaning. So I speak through images, always carting around a camera, hoping to capture the essence of a moment.

Not so random thoughts

Mothers are crucial in the lives of their offspring. They don't fully realize that until the time they hold their babies for the first time. Mothers need to know that it is their touch, their voice, and their companionship that will help their child back to wellness again and again.
Here's to all mothers and their substitutes who nurture the world.

My Home

So let me tell you: I intend to protect my home.
Praying -- not a curse -- only the hope that my courage will not fail my love. But if by some miracle, and all our struggle, the Earth is spared, only justice to every living thing (and everything is alive) will save humankind.

Unspeakable comfort

What unspeakable comfort and strength is ours to know that in the midst of all our mischief, amid our scheming and bad speculations, regardless of our shaping, misshaping or reshaping of life, with all of our activities and failures, God is among us. God is not a graven image of our own longings and shortcomings. Rather God, through Christ, is among us as friend, advocate, savior, and above all as our living Lord, to correct, to forgive, to comfort, to love, and to heal.

Today she would have been 78. She's the tall one of the group.
I celebrate privately.

Who knew

That I would miss the sun so much. It is dark and gloomy in Phoenix today. It drizzles and it is cold.
