Dough creations are not unusual around these parts.

Grasshopper's photo essay

Life's simple pleasures include having my hair played with. It ranks high on my list.

Grasshopper indulges me from time to time.

She's done this since she was little.

Give her some scrunchies and a brush.

And masterpieces are created.

And I get to feel the softness of her fingers.

She photographs too, so this is Grasshopper's photo essay.

She is crafty

When you have more than one child, and you are always on the lookout for individual interests in them, and you are (I am) always amazed and their skills and propensities.

Grasshopper likes to craft more than Snowden. She helped me iron these strips of fabric that are on their way of becoming a new quilt. She is delighted with the experience of making a crinkly piece of fabric nice and smooth with the hot iron.

She showed me how she starts on the right and slowly flattens the fabric as she moves the iron to the left.

I totally get that. Ironing is one activity I find to be fun.

Hand made gifts of love

Yes, we own a scroll saw. It was purchased during a phase where working with wood was my thing.
Here and there the thing comes out and someone creates something.

Grasshopper was on a mission to make me a birthday present. She engaged Dad for some wood cutting and off she went. I love watching them totally engrossed in a project.

Little Engineers

The van. Snowden's version.

The van. Grasshopper's version.

These are time consuming tasks, made patiently with care and focus.

Snailey leads the way

Grasshopper collected Littlest Pet Shop critters in first and second grades.

She pulls them out to play sometimes. Here they hang on the lamp post. The little animals have magnets on their feet. Play is important because of what it teaches parents about their children. If you want to know what she's thinking about, what interests or bothers her at any given moment, watch what she does when she plays.

Fantastic in a bottle

" I feel like Subway...
the cold tuna,
the tasty mayo,
the crunchy lettuce,
and the sweet tasting Italian bread..."
